What is Salvation?

 

        The biblical idea is for a person to turn from their sin (repentance) and embrace Christ as their Lord and Savior (belief).

                        Mark 1:15

                        Acts 2:38

 

How is this accomplished?

 

1.  A person needs to understand God's holiness.

                        Leviticus 11:44-45

                        1 Peter 1:16

                        Hebrews 12:14

God is Holy

2.  God hates sin-everybody is a sinner.

                        Exodus 20:5

                        Mark 2:17

                        Isaiah 57:20-21

                        Romans 3:10-18, 23

All have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.

3.  As a result, the sinner is worthy of death.

                        James 1:15

                         Romans 6:23

                         Hebrews 9:27

The Wages of Sin is Death

4.  The good news-"the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

     He is eternally God      John 1:1-3,14

     Colossians 2:9

 

     He is Lord of all      Acts 10:36

     Philippians 2:9-11

     Revelation 17:14

 

     He became a man      Philippians 2:6-7 

 

     He is utterly pure and sinless      Hebrews 4:15

     1 Peter 2:22-23

     1 John 3:5

 

     The Sinless One became a sacrifice for

     our sin

      2 Corinthians 5:21

     Titus 2:14

 

     He died on a cross to provide a way

     of salvation

      Ephesians 1:7-8

     Colossians 1:20

     1 Peter 2:24

     Revelation 1:5

 

     He rose triumphantly from the dead!

     1 Corinthians 15:3-4

5.  God's demand of the sinner-Repent and turn to Christ as Lord and Savior.

     Repent!!!

      Ezekiel 18:30

     Turn your heart from all that

     dishonors God and follow Jesus

      1 Thessalonians 1:9

     Luke 9:23

     John 12:26

 

     Trust him and Lord and Savior

6.  Salvation is free-so is joining the army. Both have costs. Count the costs carefully.

7.  Trust Christ-urge sinners to follow him.
